No more delays with prize money at DreamHack! It has just been confirmed that DreamHack will make sure that the winners of the official DreamHack tournaments will be offered to have the prize money cashed out on spot!

DreamHack just announced that the prize money will be handed out on the spot to the winners of each tournament. We on GosuGamers believe this is a great step in the eSport scene in order to make sure that each gamer receives what they're promised. Here's the press release:

As an initiative to further strenghten our position as the top LAN organizer, DreamHack can now together with our sponsor ASUS make sure that the prize money from our official game tournaments will be offered on the spot at DreamHack Summer 2006.

As a result, the top gamers in each tournament can, before leaving the event, receive their respective prizes in cash in order to make the prize distribution secure, fast and easy.

If, for some reason, some gamers would not be able at Tuesday morning, DreamHack will still make sure that the offer of having the cash transferred to a bank account after the event will remain.

DreamHack is the world's biggest LAN and are this year hosting official tournaments in Counter-Strike, WarCraft III, StarCraft, Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2. Counter-Strike and WarCraft III are a part of the World GameMaster Tournament and the finals will be played on the main stage at DreamHack, using ASUS' top quality computers.

GosuGamers have for long strived to make this change real, and are happy that it's finally announced. Let's hope that this can work as a consolation to the late prize money announcement and that other LAN events can follow in the same footsteps.
