When you think of Steam, and Valve, you'll probably have Dota 2, Counter Strike, Portal, Half Life, or even Left 4 Dead in your mind. These games have captured the attention of gamers making Steam an extremely conventional name. Below is a press release by Valve regarding their expansion:
More Software titles will be added in an ongoing fashion following the September 5th launch, and developers will be welcome to submit Software titles via Steam Greenlight.
"The 40 million gamers frequenting Steam are interested in more than playing games," said Mark Richardson at Valve. "They have told us they would like to have more of their software on Steam, so this expansion is in response to those customer requests."
By proclaiming Steam as a market for non-gaming softwares, Valve has certainly solidified it's interest in expanding Steam to a great height. Let's hope that the expansion brought by Valve culminates as a big hit.
