PokerStars Launches Timed Tournaments

PokerStars introduced a new format of online poker tournament on their site this week. Whereas typical tournaments have escalating blinds and end when one player has all the chips, with Timed Tournaments the tournament runs for a predetermined amount of time. When the clock runs out, everything in the prize pool is awarded to the people who still have chips based on the size of their stacks.

PokerStars has initially set up a range of Time Tourneys from as little as 15 minutes to as much as three hours. Buy-ins will start as low as $1.

Starting this Saturday, there will be a new Saturday Line-Up: the Saturday Countdown, a two-hour Time Tourney featuring a $22 buy-in at 13:00 ET with a $10,000 guarantee. Then on Saturday, October 29, all the Saturday Line-Up guarantees will be doubled.

To find the Time Tourneys, simply open the PokerStars lobby, click on the TOURNEY tab, and look for tournaments marked with a stopwatch icon.
