In 2007, Neteller agreed to pay $136 million to the United States to settle their legal situation. Part of that settlement allowed the US government to keep $60 million that they had already seized, with Neteller having to make further payments of $40 million and $36 million.
In 2009, PartyPoker agreed to pay a $105 million fine to settle with American authorities over the site's violation of the UIGEA. PartyPoker negotiated to pay in installments, of which the last will not be paid until the latter part of 2012.
With the experience of this as yet unnamed lawyer on their side, Groupe Bernard Tapie is increasingly confident that a reasonable solution will be found so they can progress in the buyout of Full Tilt Poker.
