Doyle Brunson To Play First EPT Event

While it may seem that 78-year-old Doyle Brunson has done everything in the poker world, he is doing something new this week; playing his first ever European Poker Tour event. Although he travels less than he used to, Brunson has been to Europe multiple times, playing in the World Poker Tour and World Series of Europe events.

Brunson has curtailed his tournament schedule even more of late after a disappointing run in the World Series of Poker, preferring to instead play the Big Game in Las Vegas when it runs. Brunson is an icon in the poker world with ten WSOP bracelets, a WPT title and over $6 million in career earnings.

Brunson will play in the upcoming Caesars Cup at WSOP Europe in Cannes and indicates his reason for playing the EPT event after missing the first 7 seasons.
“I was on my way to Cannes and an old friend I’ve known for 30 years invited me to play with him for a few days here in London.

So I’ll be playing down at the Western Club if I get knocked out of this, before I head down to Cannes. I certainly wasn’t ducking the EPT or anything.”
He indicated that his leg continues to bother him, but his competitive spirit remains strong and he will battle to see if he can join the exclusive club of players who have won poker's Triple Crown (WSOP, WPT and EPT titles).
