Brian Hastings Blasts to $250k Win

Brian "$tinger 88" Hastings only recently joined the exodus of American players moving to Canada to resume their online poker careers. He joined a number of high stakes players who chose the scenic and international Vancouver, British Columbia as his new home. After a bit of time adjusting to his new environs and losing some online, Hastings blasted to a $250,688 win Wednesday on PokerStars.

The win increased his winnings over the last week to over $400k in profit. Hastings main game has been the popular $50/$100 6-maz PLO games that have been running a plenty of late. He logged nearly 2k hands over the night against established regulars like Ilari ‘Ilari_FIN’ Sahamies, socutiesf, VietRussian, RainyLiksBoy, and Benny “toweliestar” Spindler.

Although formerly associated with Full Tilt Poker, the young Pennsylvania-born pro who is infamous for winning the largest single day online profit at $4.2 million in his epic battle with Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, is now up $511k in 2011 on PokerStars.

Hastings wasn't the only winner with Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies (+$167k), Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen (+$96k), micha3096 (+$74k), and Rob “Vaga_Lion” Akery (+$64k) rounding the top five winners on the evening.

Although traditionally the high stakes games on PokerStars have played second fiddle to Full Tilt Poker, since April 15th, the games have slowly but consistently picked up momentum and as the established pros migrate, the games and levels are growing. It won't be too long before games like $200/$400 PLO start to run. If anything, in the absence of the higher levels, players are playing looser and still racking up $200k wins and losses with regularity.
