Although the largest theme of the event was clearly about America’s current economy and its prospects for job growth, poker managed to slip its way into discussion. Although one might not expect online poker to be the most pressing issue for the American public, the PPA’s has launched several aggressive social media and publicity campaigns targeting US lawmakers using facebook and twitter.
Though Reid’s answer was brief, the mainstream publicity gained from the Twitter Town Hall marks a somewhat significant victory for the poker community. Reid re-established his support for online poker, noting that although he is opposed to online gaming (except for poker,) “online poker would create jobs: and lots of jobs.”
