Norwegian Andreas Høivold Robbed at Gun Point on Honeymoon in Venezuela

Norwegian poker pro Andreas Høivold and his new wife were robbed of all their valuables at gun point on their honeymoon in Venezuela. The former EPT Dortmund winner was visiting Caracas, Venezuela as part of an extended honeymoon to the Caribbean, South and Central America.

A little over a year ago, Høivold met his wife during filming of High Stakes Poker. Vicki Ann Sims of Denver, Colorado, was a dealer at the Golden Nugget casino. He was so smitten with her he wrote his number on a $50 bill with the message "Please Call Me" and handed it to her.

She called him.

He subsequently broke up with his Norwegian girlfriend over the phone, who he had lived with together for two years.

Høivold whirlwind romance raced forward in the following days with many restaurants and long conversations.

They wed in December and then planned for an extended honeymoon. They currently reside in the poker heavy locale of Panorama Towers in Las Vegas.

The honeymoon began at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas while Høivold played the tournaments there.
"Generally, one should avoid playing when there is a lot of emotions going on, and now it has been much," Høivold concedes."Possibly throw himself into a major tournament on Bellagio now in December."

No word on how the robbery will affect the rest of their honeymoon.
