Campbell became known last year for his efforts to remove sports betting from a bill that Frank submitted that ultimately failed. It is interesting that he is now spearheading the revised proposal in the newly Republican controlled house.
Campbell will apparently use his appearance as keynote speaker at the May San Francisco based Global iGaming Summer and Expo to present his case at the pre-eminent gaming conference in the world to that industry to mobilize and understand the ramifications of his proposed legislation.
Supporters of Campbell's bill include the PPA. Conference speakers include representatives from the Department of Justice, California Indians, other Native American gaming interests, Caesars Interactive, iMEGA, the Kentucky horse racing industry, various lottery interests, Jeffery Pollack’s Federated Sports+Gaming and others who have long found themselves at opposing ends of mutual interests.
New Jersey is poised to have their pending online gambling regulation enacted within the next ten days and California and Florida have been marching forward with their plans to institute similar individual state regulation and legalization. U.S. poker players would benefit from a federal solution, rather than having each individual state attempt to find unique situations that different from state to state.
