Zynga has been actively trying to corner the market for online virtual currency for a while now with several patents pending. They are also actively trying to navigate a way to monetize their business platform in an era of regulated poker in the US. This PokerCon event appears the first step in that direction of crossing over from an online free money game and breach the gap to being taken more seriously as a poker force with 37 million potential customers for real money poker. It will be interesting to see who are the surprise guests and top poker pros they have mysteriously alluded to in their promotions for this event.
