When is MapleStory Classic World’s release date?
MapleStory Classic World will launch globally on 21 October 2026, Nexon announced on its MapleStory social media channels. This marks more than a year of development since the game was first revealed in April 2025, during the 20th anniversary of Global MapleStory.
What is in MapleStory Classic World?
The classic version of MapleStory aims to recreate the nostalgic MMORPG experience from before its game-changing Big Bang update. During this period, MapleStory enjoyed its golden age, becoming a major internet phenomenon between 2003 and 2010. The game recorded a combined total of 39 million user accounts by 2006 and continued to grow before the Big Bang update overhauled its fundamental systems. The update restructured many of its mechanics and pacing, making the game faster-paced and more individually focused.
A classic version of Global MapleStory has since been widely requested, and Nexon is finally making it happen.
In MapleStory Classic World, players can expect a more laid-back levelling system, simpler class options and mechanics, as well as a greater emphasis on social interaction. Players can revisit iconic locations such as Maple Island and the game's main continent, Victoria Island. They will also be able to choose from the four original classes: Warrior, Magician, Bowman, and Thief.
While some of these features have already been showcased during previous closed tests, Nexon appears to have more up its sleeve for the modernised MapleStory Classic World experience.
