Overwatch Season 3 reveals new hero Shion, an Omnic gangster who dual-wields pistols

Overwatch’s next hero is Shion, a mob boss with a motorbike.

Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled Overwatch’s 52nd hero: Shion, a mob boss who leads the Hashimoto clan. Shion is an Omnic who more closely resembles a human compared to other Omnics like Zenyatta and Ramattra. She appears in an animated cinematic trailer fighting Overwatch’s Sojourn, armed with dual-wielded pistols in an apparent nod to her in-game weapons and abilities.

Who is Overwatch Season 3’s new hero Shion?

Overwatch’s 52nd hero has been revealed at long last! Shion, the game’s seventh new hero since its 2026 rebrand, will arrive when Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches on 16 June, 2026. Lore-wise, she’s tied closely to heroes like Hanzo, Genji, Kiriko, and Mizuki, given that she leads the Hashimoto clan in Japan.

In Overwatch lore, the Hashimoto clan assassinated Genji and Hanzo’s father, Sojiro Shimada. The Hashimoto clan currently frequently gets into scraps with the Yokai faction, a group of rebels looking to push these gangsters off their home turf, counting Kiriko among their ranks. One known member of the Hashimoto clan is Mizuki, an in-game playable Support released earlier this year.

Shion was revealed in a cinematic trailer released in the build-up to Overwatch Season 3’s launch. She appears to be a Damage class hero, and her arrival will come accompanied with an all-new map set in Japan.

We don’t get much confirmation of Shion’s full ability kit, but we do know that she’ll be able to dual-wield pistols, if the trailer is anything to go by. Her throat also lights up when she speaks, while her face rarely contorts–a clear nod to her being an Omnic, rather than a human with cybernetic upgrades like Sojourn.

Overwatch Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches with Shion on 16 June, 2026.
