Avatar The Fighting Game delayed to July, as developers seek more time to finalise the game

Fans will have to wait several additional weeks to play Avatar: The Fighting Game.

Avatar: The Fighting Game has been delayed, with a new release date of 23 July instead of its original 2 June launch. The nearly two-month delay comes as the developers require additional time to polish the final version of the game.

Developer Gameplay Group International issued the following statement:

“To our Avatar community: To ensure AVATAR LEGENDS: The Fighting Game delivers the best possible experience at launch, we wanted to let you know that we’re taking a little extra time to cook up an exceptional Avatar adventure, including brand new content previously unplanned!”

The studio confirmed the new 23 July release date, alongside a beta access running from 2–5 July for players who pre-order the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

What is Avatar: The Fighting Game about?

Avatar: The Fighting Game is a 2D fighting game featuring both a single-player experience and online PvP. Inspired by the beloved 2000s animated series Avatar, it brings together a nostalgic roster of characters and iconic locations in a competitive brawling adventure.

The game notably features hand-drawn artwork designed to closely replicate the look and feel of the original animation from two decades ago. It also includes a variety of game modes, including Story Mode and Arcade Mode, allowing players to experience unique storylines for each character, among others.

Fans of the franchise can also opt for the Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive content such as a curated digital artbook featuring hand-drawn artwork, a One-Year Pass that adds five additional playable characters, and an original soundtrack.

Players who pre-order the game will receive bonus rewards, including the Samurai Appa Support Character Skin and exclusive colour variants for characters such as Aang, Korra, Zuko, and more.

Pre-orders are now available on PC via Steam, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S pre-orders will open at a later date.
