Toei Company, the parent company behind Toei Films and Toei Animation, is finally expanding to include gaming within its roster.
The decision, which comes as part of Toei Company's 75th anniversary celebration this year, is set to establish a new game business brand. The announcement revealed that the new company, Toei Games, is set to enter the PC game market as its first venture.
What did president and CEO Fumio Yoshimura say about Toei Games?
In a press release published through PR Times, it has been revealed that Toei Games is set to position itself as a “new pillar” alongside the fields that have been Toei's mainstays until now.
According to president and CEO Fumio Yoshimura, Toei Games aims to release new IPs, ones that have been created from scratch, instead of utilising existing IPs within its roster.
“Games are an extremely global form of entertainment that continues to spread beyond language and national borders,” Yoshimura commented in the press release, “Our group's medium-to-long term vision, ‘TOEI NEW WAVE 2033’, aims to deliver the ‘stories’created by Toei to the entire world.”
Yoshimura further stated that establishing Toei Games is an embodiment of the company's vision, with the global market as “our main battleground.”
What kind of games will Toei Games release?
Toei Company has revealed that Toei Games will start its venture in the gaming business through the PC game market VIA Steam. They will then plan to expand to consoles like Nintendo Switch, Playstation, and Xbox.
It is yet to be revealed what exact kind of games we'll see from Toei Games, but the press release does reveal that we can expect the announcement for their first lineup of game titles on 24 April, 2026.
