Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 announced for 2027 release on Steam, PS5, and Xbox

After nearly a decade, the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series is finally getting its long-awaited third instalment.

Bandai Namco has officially announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the next entry in the action-RPG video game franchise based on the classic anime. The game is set to launch sometime in 2027 for PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The reveal took place earlier today during DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2026 in Los Angeles, where Bandai Namco premiered the first official trailer, alongside new updates on several other Dragon Ball titles.

What is the setting in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?

It appears that the publisher had already been teasing Xenoverse 3 under the mysterious title Age 1000, which has now been confirmed as the timeline setting for the upcoming sequel.

As stated in its official blog post, Xenoverse 3 takes players to “AGE 1000” featuring a grown and bustling West City. Staying true to the series’ formula, the anime-inspired RPG places players among the ranks of the Great Saiyan Squad, where they will “fight alongside familiar and new allies”.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 originally launched in 2016 and remained active for nearly a decade through numerous patches and DLC expansions–and while it kept the game alive, fans have also been eager for a proper next-generation follow-up.

Now, players can finally look forward to a revamped Xenoverse experience that builds on the series’ signature mix of custom characters, story-driven progression, and iconic battles inspired by the legendary Dragon Ball manga and anime.

For now, details remain limited, but Bandai Namco has promised to share more information in the coming months ahead of the game’s 2027 release.

The last DLC announced for Xenoverse 2

The announcement of Xenoverse 3 also signals the end of an era for its predecessor. Bandai Namco confirmed that FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 will serve as the final DLC expansion for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, arriving in Summer 2026.

According to the publisher, the concluding chapter will feature epic final battles, high-stakes confrontations, god-level power clashes, and a farewell journey designed to close out the game’s decade-long run.

Bandai Namco also shared updates on other Dragon Ball projects during the event. In Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Vegeta and Trunks were announced as new playable fighters for the first time, while a brand-new solo-focused mode titled Limit Breaker Journey was also revealed. Dragon Ball FighterZ sees a roster expansion with more characters, and DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA is receiving several collaborations and a competitive update.
