The POCO X8 Pro series has arrived.
POCO has revealed launch details for the POCO X8 series, which has officially launched as of yesterday (17 March). The X8 series consists of the POCO X8 Pro Max, POCO X8 Pro, and the POCO X8 Pro–Iron Man Edition. Yes, you read that right: this X8 Pro series comes with a flashy Iron Man-themed variant, suitable for every Marvel Comics fan looking for a new collectible.
You’ll also notice that there is no base X8 model in this series. That’s because POCO is moving its X series to the X Pro series, with the X8 Pro Max being this series’ highest-end model.
POCO X8 Pro Max technical details
The POCO X8 Pro Max is the first smartphone to be powered by Dimensity 9500s, the latest Dimensity 9000 series flagship chipset, featuring up to a 3.73GHz max clock speed and a 4+4 All Big Core CPU design. The phone also supports LPDDR5X 9600Mbps RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
Both the POCO X8 Pro Max and POCO X8 Pro support hardware-level ray tracing. The phones also come with POCO's usual suite of software solutions to boost gaming performance, like WildBoost Optimisation.
The POCO X8 Pro Max also features a 3D IceLoop Cooling System, designed to improve thermal efficiency and reduce SoC (system on a chip) temperatures by up to 3°C with a large 5,800mm1 liquid cooling area. The phone’s biggest selling point might in fact be its battery life, featuring an 8,500mAh battery capacity.
POCO claims that the phone will deliver two days of battery life, and will continue to retain over 80% of its capacity even after 1,600 charge cycles. The POCO X8 Pro houses a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, by comparison. The POCO X8 Pro also comes equipped with a 6.59-inch display, while the POCO X8 Pro Max gets a wider display, coming in at 6.83 inches.
As for the phones’ cameras, both models come with a 50MP main camera and a 20MP front camera. Where they differ is the POCO X8 Pro Max uses a Light Fusion 600 image sensor, while the POCO X8 Pro comes with a Sony IMX882 sensor for the main camera. The X8 Pro series also comes with camera features like UltraSnap and Dynamic shots, similar to prior iterations.
The POCO X8 Pro–Iron Man Edition notably does not feature the signature red-and-gold design of Iron Man’s armour in its body. Instead, it incorporates the iconic Marvel hero’s design in its black body via golden streaks, an Arc Reactor-themed flash, and some artwork featuring the hero on the back of the phone.
