Street Fighter 6 reveals Alex as new playable character launching Spring 2026

Once a hero of Street Fighter III, Alex is reintroduced as a more ruthless guy ahead of his Street Fighter 6 arrival.

Street Fighter 6 is once again expanding its roster, with Capcom officially teasing Alex as the next playable fighter coming in Spring 2026. The reveal arrived via a short teaser clip shared on Friday (SGT), giving fans their first proper look at the Street Fighter III mainstay inside the latest Street Fighter game.

Rather than following the usual World Tour-style character introduction with Johnny, the teaser opens on a brutal encounter between Alex and one of Final Fight’s Andore brothers, a familiar face already present elsewhere in the game. It’s an unconventional setup for a Street Fighter 6 reveal, but it still appears to serve as Alex’s narrative introduction for the story mode.

Alex returns to Street Fighter 6 with a darker persona

The trailer leans heavily into a more sinister take on the New York wrestler. Introduced by the announcer as the “Dark Devil” and a “man with no allies”, Alex is portrayed as a full-blown heel, dismantling Andore without hesitation. Long-running fan theories about Alex’s darker direction post–Street Fighter III appear to be spot on.

While the teaser doesn’t show full gameplay, it strongly hints that several of Alex’s signature moves are intact. Air Stampede makes a clear appearance, while his iconic Power Bomb is all but confirmed through the animation and framing. It’s a familiar kit, but one that already looks reworked to match Street Fighter 6’s heavier, more grounded presentation.

Alex originally debuted in Street Fighter III: New Generation as the central character of the story. An American wrestler from New York, he entered the World Warrior tournament after its sponsor, Gill, critically injured his best friend and father figure, Tom. With his return to Street Fighter 6, Alex looks set to re-enter the spotlight, this time with a far more ruthless edge.

Capcom did not confirm an exact release date in the teaser, leaving Alex locked in with a broad Spring 2026 launch window for now. Fans can expect more details, and likely proper gameplay footage, closer to release.
