Many Nightfarers joined the hunt for the Dreglord.
FromSoftware’s latest update has arrived at a busy moment for Elden Ring: Nightreign players. The Forsaken Hollows DLC has only been out for a short while, yet the community has already pushed deep into Limveld, sharing mixed reactions, big surges in activity, and plenty of discussion about what the new hunt offers. Now, the studio has confirmed that over two million Nightfarers have stepped into the shadows.
On Tuesday, 10 December (SGT), FromSoftware posted a milestone message on Steam, thanking players who joined the battle against the Dreglord. “In the deepest recesses of Limveld, valour shall prevail. For every Nightfarer who joined the hunt against the Dreglord, we offer our immense gratitude,” the message read.
Player numbers surge despite early criticism
The Forsaken Hollows launched on 4 December and quickly attracted attention for all sorts of reasons. The DLC opened to a Mixed rating on Steam, sitting at only 46% positive in its first days and becoming FromSoftware’s lowest-rated PC release so far.
Players pointed out concerns about the amount of content, difficulty with Shifting Sands, and the toughness of the new bosses. Some also mentioned technical issues. Others, however, highlighted the new Nightlords, the additional characters, and the fresh area as positives. While the reception was divided, discussion remained active rather than one-sided.
Since launch week, the rating has shifted upwards. The DLC is still Mixed at the time of writing, but positive reviews have increased from 46% to around 55% as more players make their way through the new challenges.
SteamDB numbers back it up: Elden Ring: Nightreign added over 92,115 concurrent players in the past 30 days, marking a whopping 223.4% increase. The game also peaked at 133,355 concurrent players on the day the DLC released, and continues to hold strong with a 24-hour peak of 87,388 as of writing. FromSoftware’s update adds the latest milestone to a busy post-launch period for Nightreign.
