An Avatar: The Last Airbender reunion panel at New York Comic Con 2025 has revealed that the Avatar franchise is getting a fighting game adaptation called Avatar Legends. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game announced
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is exactly what it sounds like: a fighting game featuring iconic characters from the larger Avatar franchise. Confirmed playable characters include Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Azula, Toph, and Korra–though 12 characters will be available at launch, so more fighters are likely to be revealed over time.
The game will feature a single-player campaign with an original story for players to take on, in addition to combo trials and a gallery mode. The game also sports hand-drawn 2D art, reminiscent of the TV series that it’s based on.
Its main game mode is a 1v1 PvP fighting mode, featuring rollback netcode and cross-play. The game also has support characters to grant the player special moves, and a “Flow System” that places more focus on the player’s movement. These support characters include Aang’s flying bison Appa, Korra’s polar bear dog Naga, and the bounty hunter June.
A seasonal model for future content updates is also planned, promising that more fighters will be added to expand the playable roster over time. At launch, only 12 playable characters will be available. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game does not have a release date yet, but the game is set to launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Another “AAA” RPG video game based on the Avatar franchise is also in the works, from the developer of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
