Dune: Awakening is getting a free trial this week.
Developer Funcom has announced all-new content coming to its open-world multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening, including both free and paid DLC. The free DLC consists of Dune: Awakening’s first free major content update, adding Chapter 2 of the main story. The paid DLC will be The Lost Harvest, which adds a standalone story and cosmetics.
Dune: Awakening free DLC announced
Dune: Awakening’s first major content update arrives on 10 September, adding Chapter 2 of the main story. The Chapter 2 update picks things up from the ending of the base game’s storyline, introducing new characters and locations, as players explore the darkest corners of the Imperium.
Chapter 2 also adds all-new content for players to encounter out in the in-game world. This includes contracts, dynamic encounters, items, activities, and other character creation options. The latter includes all-new hairstyles, which existing characters can access using a new re-customisation feature.
The Lost Harvest paid DLC
For those willing to fork up extra for Dune: Awakening DLC, The Lost Harvest costs US$12.99 and adds a wholly standalone storyline to the game. Players will embark on a journey to find secret cargo once housed by a fallen spice harvester from the Miner’s Guild.
Besides the new storyline, this DLC also adds cosmetics including a vehicle called the Treadwheel, a building set, armour sets, and more. These cosmetics will have to be crafted like all other items, however. The Iron Harvest is included in the Season Pass.
Dune: Awakening free trial
A free trial for Dune: Awakening is now available, but players will have to act fast to try out the game. The free trial runs for the entirety of Gamescom, meaning that it will be available from now until 24 August. Players can explore the entire Hagga Basin map for 10 whole hours. It also includes multiplayer content, and allows players to retain their inventory and progress in the full game once the trial ends.
Dune: Awakening is now available on PC, and is set to arrive on consoles at a later date.
