Ghost of Yōtei’s latest trailer had a surprising multiplayer reveal.
Gamescom Opening Night Live saw the release of a brand-new Ghost of Yōtei trailer, showing off the game’s story, combat, and breathtaking open-world environments. However, its most crucial reveal was saved for last: much like Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei will get a co-op multiplayer mode called Legends post-release.

Ghost of Yōtei confirms multiplayer DLC in 2026
PlayStation Studios has released a new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei, following its protagonist Atsu (Erika Ishii) as she seemingly encounters one of the Yōtei Six–a group of villains who murdered her family when she was a child. Now grown-up and trained in combat, Atsu has set out to get her revenge.
The new trailer shows us just a brief snippet of that revenge story, along with clips of Atsu dismantling various foes in the environs of Mount Yōtei. We see a few clips of her traversing the area around Mount Yōtei as well, either on horseback or on foot, featuring breathtaking green fields and windy forests.
The trailer saves its biggest reveal for last: Ghost of Tsushima’s co-op multiplayer mode Legends is returning in Ghost of Yōtei, albeit not at launch. The mode will launch sometime in 2026 as free DLC for anyone who has purchased the original game.
In a PlayStation Blog post, it was revealed that Ghost of Yōtei Legends will retain a “fantastical, supernatural setting in contrast to the grounded world of Ghost of Yōtei.” The mode will consist of two-player story missions and four-player survival matches. This time, players can select one of four character classes to combat gigantic and demonic versions of the Yōtei Six.
Ghost of Yōtei launches on 2 October, 2025.
