Street Fighter 6’s upcoming K-pop collab was previously accidentally leaked... by Capcom.
Capcom has officially announced an upcoming collaboration with Street Fighter 6 and the K-pop girl group aespa. This week, the game publisher revealed an “aespa x Street Fighter 6” visual on social media with little to no context, leaving fans scratching their heads at the fighting game’s seemingly out-of-nowhere crossover with the world of K-pop.
Street Fighter 6 x aespa collab announced
Capcom has announced Street Fighter 6’s latest collaboration: the fighting game is crossing over with the real-life girl group aespa. Aespa is a South Korean girl group that produces hyperpop and hip-hop music, and consists of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. The group made its debut with the release of its first hit single Black Mamba, on 17 November, 2020.
This isn’t the first time Street Fighter 6 have heard of this collaboration, however. In an earlier patch for the game, players found that Capcom had accidentally pushed an aespa-themed outfit for the fighter Juri in the game’s live build. A few screenshots on Reddit confirmed its existence last week (4 June).
Capcom later confirmed that the “unexpected costume” had been a bug, and patched it out. It proceeded to act as if the outfit had never been revealed to the public, until today’s official Street Fighter 6 x aespa announcement. While the full extent of the crossover is currently unknown, we do know that Juri’s getting a new outfit, thanks to the leak.
The aespa x Street Fighter collab does not have a launch date yet. Capcom also recently announced Street Fighter 6’s Year 3 DLC fighters.
