Worlds 2022: CTBC Flying Oyster are eliminated after back-to-back defeats

The PCS are out of Worlds 2022.

CTBC Flying Oyster have been eliminated from Worlds 2022 at the hands of Gen.G Esports, who has put themselves in a good spot to qualify for the playoffs. While CFO started the day in the third, it went south in just a few hours after back-to-back losses against 100 Thieves and then Gen.G.

100T made light work of CFO with a 20-4 kill score against CFO in the first game of the day. That loss then put both 100T and CFO on level terms in Group D. This was where CFO's must-win match came along against Gen.G. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

There was a reason why Gen.G was so dominant all throughout the LCK Summer Split. The likes of Han "Peanut" Wang-ho, Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, and Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk stepped up to take charge of the game. All three players nabbed six kills apiece but it was Chovy who was the more aggressive of the trio, which resulted in his demise on three occasions.

Despite the wealth of talent in the PCS roster, CFO could not get things going, even after the loss against 100T earlier. For what it was worth, it didn't seem like the same CFO from a week before. It is unfortunate to say goodbye to the world championship debutants, who have been one of the crowd favourites whenever they played on the main stage.

With that back-to-back loss, NA still has a chance of getting at least an LCS team to the playoffs. 100T will be playing a doubleheader against Royal Never Give Up and Gen.G. Their next two games are make-or-break for the entire NA region, who will be the sixth man on the 100T squad.
