IEM NY started killing the foreigners from the very beginning and by the end of day one and the first stage of competition, twelve were eliminated at the expense of DongRaeGu, Life, Hack and San. The group stage didn't start well for the westerners either and with Group A's end came the ousting of Liquid`s TLO and it was not be until Group B and Naniwa's partial success that foreigners would see a silver lining.

The Swede also remained the only non-Korean to be standing tall after the end of day two. Group C delivered the elimination of State and the playoffs promotion of Curious, leaving KT's Ultimate Weapon Flash to fight DongRaeGu today for the seventh playoffs spot. Group D was just a merciless towards the foreign population and with a score of 1-4 EG's HuK was shown the door out of the tournament. It was San who came first in that same group, making for an sOs/Revival decider match.
