Offline Event Survey 2010

Its been a year full of happenings and emotions. Several tournaments were held and with all of the major LANs finished, GosuGamers would appreciate a discussion, about which of them you enjoyed the most. All aspects can be taken into consideration, be it either the coverages on the various portals, or the organisation of the event itself.

At the end of June, ESWC went down in Paris, France. The 16 teams came from all over the world and had to go through two groupstages and double elimination playoffs. At the beginning and towards the end, stream problems occurred, but entertaining games were played in between and english live commentary was provided. EHOME turned the competition into a rather onesided affair, finishing 80% of their games within 30 minutes; replays were provided by the end of the matchdays. Your event of the year?

After an intermission time of several months featuring ESTC and the Chinese events Topgamer, Road of the King and National Electronic Sports Open, WDC came up in mid November. The offline finals were devided into one groupstage and single elimination playoffs after two qualification tournaments in both China and the rest of Asia. Livestreams were provided and the flow of games was consistent. The foreign attenders managed to put up a good fight, against the local powerhouses in significantly more even games; likely a result of the late mapswitch. The Replays were published one week after the event. May this be your event of the year?

And finally we reached early December were SGNDT was held in Damansara consisting of preliminaries, a big groupstage best of one double elimination playoffs. the played matches in this tournament definitely belong to the best in the year. The english stream started out laggy but improved during the day. WTV was partly provided and the main stage featured a lot interesting matchups to watch; replays were provided instantly after each match. Is this your event of the year?
