HoN announcement at the NASL Finals

Heroes of Newerth will be joining a major North American eSports league as a "promotional title."

If you're a StarCraft II fan (especially one in North America), you are no doubt aware of the North American Star League Grand Finals that are happening this weekend in Ontario, California. S2 Games is apparently interested in the NASL as well, having their own booth at the event.

If you aren't familiar with the NASL, it is a new league established this year that proclaims itself to be "the biggest StarCraft II tournament outside of Korea." Throughout its first season, which is coming to a close this weekend, matches were played online and then replay-casted, with a free low-quality stream and high-quality passes for sale. The tournament features a $100,000 prize pool for StarCraft II, a Grand Finals LAN at the end of the season, and attracts some of the best pro players from all over the world.

So far, S2 Games has just announced that HoN will be a part of NASL Season 2 as a promotional title. What does this mean? Until more specific details are given, we can only speculate. Will HoN be making a single-season appearance in the NASL or have a longer tenure? Is S2 Games using this partnership to help launch an event of their own in the future? Will there be streaming, an attractive prize pool, a LAN event? All sorts of questions are waiting to be answered between the end of NASL's inaugural season and the start of its next one.
