Keyd Stars and Thunder Awaken secure South American TI12 qualifier tickets to Seattle

South America is heading with four teams at The International 2023 (TI12).

This year, SA was given two slots for the regional qualifiers and with beastcoast and Evil Geniuses already locked in for the most important tournament of the year via Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points, the region will fight with a total of four teams for a shot at the Aegis of Champions.

Keyd Stars had a roller coaster of a DPC season. They started in Division I, but the final tour found them in Division II, with no chance at clinching a spot at the last Major tournament of the year. Fortunately, a couple of roster changes made ahead of the regional qualifiers proved to be the right decision.

Mere weeks before joining the regional qualifier battle, Keyd Stars changed two of their core players and brought under their banner Gustavo "fcr" Ribeiro and João "4nalog" Giannini. The latter managed last year to take the limelight on the TI stage under the Hokori banner, an SA team that came from regional qualifiers to deliver quite the upsets and reach the playoffs stage.

This year 4nalog is heading to TI12 in the Keyd Stars jersey alongside veterans of the scene hungry for a memorable comeback.

On their way to Seattle, Keyd Stars dropped a single game, which happened at Thunder Awaken's hands. They managed to defeat them in the bo3 series, to make a nearly perfect run through the upper bracket games, while TA bounced back through the lower bracket rounds to claim the second slot.

Thunder Awaken will represent the SA region at TI for the third year in a row, however, they are coming to Seattle with a completely different roster than the one they reached top 6 in 2022.

While all their TI11 players are now at EG and beastcoast, the new line-up is just starting to catch some steam, but for most of their current players, this will mark their TI debut.

The International 2023

The International returns to the US after four editions held around the world. TI7 was the last edition hosted by the Key Arena in Seattle, where Team Liquid lifted the Aegis of Champions. From there on, each year TI went to different parts of the globe. Key Arena, which now is Climate Pledge arena from Seattle will be the home for The International 2023.

The International 2023: October 27-29

The eight teams that make it to The International 2023 (TI12) will play at the refurbished Key Arena, now Climate Pledge Arena, for a shot at the most wanted Dota 2 trophy, the Aegis of Champions.

Friday and Saturday will feature the upper bracket semifinals, finals, and the first round of elimination matches. The top three teams will return to the arena on Sunday, October 29 for the lower bracket finals followed by the best-of-five grand finals
