Dota 2 patch 7.34 brings a plethora of hero changes along with a massive change to Invoker

Dota 2 patch 7.34 brings with it a lot of changes, majority of which were hero changes and will impact the picks for the TI12 qualifiers and The International.

A few weeks ago, Valve promised Dota 2 patch 7.34 would be released before the TI12 qualifiers. About 9 days before the qualifiers, the new patch has arrived.

Patch 7.34 may not be as large as patch 7.33, but it still has a lot to offer. The details of all changes will be dealt with in separate analytical pieces on the GosuGamers website. Here’s a gist of the big changes to the game.

Change in the Ban and Pick Phase of Captains Mode

The order bans and picks in Captains mode has changed, and for the first time at least in recent history, the number of bans for the two sides in the first two phases will be different. This is bound to make drafting very interesting in the tournaments to come.

Slow Resistance

A new mechanic has been added to the game – Slow Resistance.

Hand of Midas

Hand of Midas now has two charges. But before you get too excited (or two excited), realize that if both are used at the same time, it takes 100 seconds to replenish the first one, and then 100 seconds again for the second one. This is only beneficial if Transmute cannot be used on time due to the hero being dead or caught up in a team fight. No doubt it is beneficial, but does not double the gold income of the item as it may initially seem.

Beastmaster

Beastmaster has lost his vision aspect after a long time, which was one of the biggest things that made him popular. The Hawk no longer grants vision like it used to, which is going to affect Rexxar’s pick rate.

Doom

Doom no longer mutes! This is the first time in history of Dota 2 that a Doomed player will be able to use a Shadow Blade or Glimmer Cape or Force Staff or Eul’s Scepter of Divinity. That is a massive nerf to the hero, but rightly so as he has been a strong meta pick for a long time now.

Invoker

The biggest winner of the patch is perhaps Invoker, who is now a Universal Hero. The benefits from Quas, Wex and Exort have all been changed, and only time will tell how this hero will now be utilized. But it is definitely a positive change for him, as it opens up a number of different avenues now.

In the coming days, GosuGamers will be bringing you detailed analysis of how each set of changes will impact the game. Till then, get into the game enjoy some pubs of Dota 2 patch 7.34!
