First Facts; Artifact release announced

Valve has dropped the first official information regarding their new card-based game, Artifact, including price and end of November release date.

If you are heading to PAXWest after TI, you will have a chance to not only play the new game but also win Artifact merchandise & two keys for a free copy of the game upon release. Thats pretty exciting considering the official release won't be anonther three months, later on November 28th, and will cost $20.

The initial announcement about a new Dota based card game from Valve was during TI7 and met with a flurry of excitement from fans. It is the first major title released since Dota 2 and the community couldn't wait to get their hands on it. In traditional Valve M.O., things then went silent for the next seven months, before they announced a few more details in a closed-door meeting with certain members of the games press invited to the presentation such as IGN. At that time all that was known about the game would not be free to play, would be released towards the end of 2019, will have their own $1 million tournament  and was designed by legendary Richard Garfield, best known as the creator of Magic: The Gathering.

Only last week, Southeast Asian Dota 2 caster Treephob “Xyclopz” Tiangtrong broke the Non-disclosure agreement and leaked content about his Beta Testing on the game, including an AMA and screenshots. The consequence of his actions was Valve revoking his privilege and access to Artifact.
