Fnatic withdrew from the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017 SEA qualifiers due to the same roster inconsistency that has been affecting them for the past few months.
Despite having only three stable members since the Spring Shuffle lockdown, Fnatic received an invite to the SEA qualifiers for DAC 2017, one which they cannot honor. Fnatic failed to lock in a five man roster during the Spring Shuffle and went to compete at ESL One Genting at the beginning of the year with Muhammad Rizky 'Inyourdream' Anugrah and Ng 'YamateH' Wei Poong. After the disappointing finish in Genting, Inyourdream announced he has to drop from the team, citing family issues, while YamateH was only a stand-in for the aforementioned event. Following ESL One Genting, Fnatic only played in the SL i-League qualifiers with different stand-ins, including their former member, Ahmad Syazwan 'ADTR' bin Anwar, but with little success.
With the Malaysian team withdrawing from the DAC 2017 regional qualifiers, a Vietnamese squad received their spot. Next Gen announced last night on their twitter account that they will be replacing Fnatic.
DAC 2017 regional qualifiers for Europe, CIS, SEA and Americas will commence on February 3rd with eight teams from each region divided in two groups of four. The group stage will be played in a GSL double elimination format, with top two squads from each group advancing in a bo3 double elimination bracket. The winners of each regional bracket will qualify for DAC 2017, which is set to take place from March 28th to 4th of April in Shanghai, China.
