The Secret is out: Team Secret final roster adds MP, MidOne, Forev

Dota 2 Isaac “RedCrayon” Celis

A new season, a new roster. Team Secret finalized their lineup with a bit of SEA flavour, picking up recently departed former MVP players Forev and MP, in addition to former Fnatic player MidOne.

After their disappointing performance in the recent International, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that Secret would undergo yet another roster change. Replacing Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev, Jacky 'EternalEnvy' Mao, and Sam 'Bulba' Sosale, come a host of SEA players who showed great talent and who distinguished themselves in the recent International. In addition to the departure of players, Team Secret also bid farewell to long time coach Theeban '1437' Siva and recent coach, Kurtis 'Aui_2000' Ling

This newest iteration of Team Secret will be quite interesting to watch. With the addition of the gung-ho pair of South Koreans, Noah 'MP' Pyo and Sang-Don 'Forev' Lee--who distinguished themselves with their elimination of OG and their entertaining, run-at-you playstyle--one can only speculate on how their previous strategy of "kill that guy" will factor in to Secret captain Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov's mindset when drafting and making calls. With the new blood also comes the addition of another veteran in Zheng 'MidOne' Yeik Nai who had been part of Fnatic since 2015. MidOne had a great showing at the International with Fnatic finshing fourth overall, distinguishing himself as one of the best position one players at the tournament.

Here's a full roster of Team Secret. Positions however still remain a bit ambiguous and only time will tell where each player will be in the lineup.

South Korea Noah 'MP' Pyo
South Korea Sang-Don 'Forev' Lee
Estonia Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov
Sweden Johan 'pieliedie' Åström

I wonder how puppey can work things out with this roster. SEA playing style is a bit different with his drafting patterns... Excited and curious on what's to come...

Yea, SEA plays differently than EU. And those three are among the example of an aggressive style, even in that aggressive server. From my point of view, at least, skill-wise they are much better than EE and Bulba. Also, both MP and Forev has been taught to always play an objective-minded while in MVP, which is an upgrade to RTZ's ego play. So naturally they would co-op with anyone to eliminate some enemies and then hit on towers, even though you didn't tell anything. Because in their head, Objectives is more important. So they will choose to farm enemy heroes and buildings rather than farm creeps when they see the opportunity arises. Forev is best for Offlane tanky heroes (such as Axe, Bristleback, Tidehunter) or Offlane lockdown/escape heroes (Void, Dark Seer, Batrider). While for striker roles, I guess MidOne and MP will rotate between post 1 and post 2 depending on the draft. Both can play at similar level either as Mid or Carry. But MidOne has a slightly larger hero pool than MP, so probably MidOne will be more on post 2. It's interesting to see what will Puppey do to their play style. Though I hope he choose to build the play around those SEA players instead, rather than maintaining Secret's old play. Because commonly it would be easier for the team if the Support adapts to Core players, not vice-versa.

I agree... It is way better for supports to adjust rather than the carry... If TS will adapt SEA's style of play, then this will be a very fun team to watch... 3 aggressive carries and 2 top notch supports... Can't wait... At least there will be least Rapiers to throw in game... ^_^.

i don't really like when 2 can paly mid and safe also. I'd rather have pure blood, than some1 like EE and rtz who don't know what they want, and confuse team also. Foreve is substancialy better than bulba or misery at offlane, bulba is not a player imo.

Im Guessing they can all Speak English and how to Lead any Team with players from Any Region makes Puppey the Best Captain?

Yes.... people were skeptical about TS after TI5 as well, everyone was like " lol EE+w33+misery+pie" these 4 players had almost no achievement besides MLG columbus

so secret asked QO first, but he didn't want to join. Maybe only 1 player halfway over the world wouldn't have mattered, and QO was worth it, but 3??? How are they gonna bootcamp? How are they gonna communicate? Mp knows the best english from the 3, but he's highly unreliable as a person, Forev speaks only Korean, and midone can mumble some english. UNderstanding each otehr is more important than communication , so there may be a chance .. but this is very wierd, and the first Western team to assimilate Asian players.
    • arvell "revy.stryker" skynative ,
Yes, that seems to be the case. Likely because he is the icon of MVP, so QO declined to join Secret and Liquid. But Secret got MP in exchange, and also Forev (the latter one is a surprise). Well.. communications surely would be a problem to cope here for Puppey to deliver his words to the three SEA players. Though if they can manage to overcome it, I think this roster could be better than the previous ones.

I don't think Midone will have a problem. Unlike Mushi and Ohaiyo, he actually got into university and everything there is taught in English.
