Shanghai Major China qualifier: LGD qualifies, CDEC.A face Newbee

LGD have qualified for the Shanghai Majors and either CDEC.A or Newbee will be eliminated in the first round of the loser bracket.

LGD did not have the smoothest path to victory as their round one best-of-three against Newbee nearly resulted them in the losers bracket; LGD narrowly achieved victory in their final game against Newbee, having to come back from an 8k net worth difference at one point in the game.

LGD's best-of-three in round two went much smoother as the veterans on LGD made quick work of the upcoming players on IG.V.

Upper Bracket

Round 2 - Best of 3

Lower Bracket

Round 1 - Best of 3

Round 2 - Best of 3

Best of 1

Newbee vs CDEC.A will be starting on the 10th of January at 07:30 CET. This match will most likely be the end of the road for the open qualifier winner, CDEC.A, because of not only the experience of the Newbee players but also past results. Newbee managed to take a game off LGD and IG.V took none; in CDEC.A's match in the first round, they were unable to take a game off IG.V. With this in mind, the likelihood of this match-up being a close one is unlikely. However, the players on both teams are almost equally skilled and if CDEC.A catches Newbee on a bad day or cause them to tilt, an upset could be achieved.

What do you think of CDEC.A's performance so far?
