IG. Chuan: "I don't see the point in playing anymore"

In an interview at the Chinese Electronic Sports Open, Wong 'ChuaN' Hock Chuan has revealed that the lack of tournaments for IG to attend has resulted in him considering retirement in the near future.

In this recently conducted interview at the National Electronic Sports Open, Wong 'ChuaN' Hock Chuan discussed the state of IG after failing to attend consecutive LAN events.

This interview is translated from the orignal article on fight.pcgames.

There has been news that IG withdrew from the Fall Majors due to visa issues, were there no ways to fix the issues?

We have put in a lot of effort into fixing the visa issues, but in the end, we were unable to resolve everything in time.

IG has missed the Nanyang Championships and Fall Majors, two premium Dota2 tournaments, what effect does missing these tournaments have on the team?

The effects of missing these tournaments are pretty significant, we have not played in any LAN events for quite some time now and we feel very unsatisfied.

IG's performance from The Summit 4 to NESO has had many ups and downs, why is this so?

We are still not consistent as a team, I feel that we are under performing.

Since the team is not participating in the Fall Majors, there will be a large chunk of time where IG will not have any tournaments to play, what do you plan to do?

I might stop playing after NESO.

What does "stop playing" mean?

I might want to retire, I do not see the point of playing anymore.

What led to the idea of retirement?

No matter how hard we work, we will not have tournaments to play due to recent events. That is why I plan on giving up.

Next year IG will have a lot of tournaments to play in though.

I am already at the limit of my patience, it is too long of a wait.

Looking at the performance of Western teams at the Nanyang Championships, how do you think the Chinese teams will fare against them at the Fall Major?

I believe a few Chinese teams are as strong as Secret and EG. Of course, after EG's recent roster changes, their results is hard to predict. But overall I think the performance of EG, Secret and the Chinese teams at the Fall Major will have a lot of similarities with TI5.
