OGN announce Dota 2 Invitational "Super Match"

The newly announced OGN Dota 2 Invitational Super Match will be a month long tournament held in Korea between the four top teams from the Nexon Sponsorship League facing off against eight international teams and will be played every Monday and Thursday at 19:00 KST (12:00 CEST) starting on the 28th of October. Notably however while the games will be played over the course of a month, the announcement makes references to a 3 month period of broadcasting content. It is unknown at this time if this is simply the Korean schedule or if English language broadcasts will also be spaced out over this timeperiod.

The so called Super Matches will be played in a style of "challenges", with each batch of international teams arriving in Korea for a week of games, to be replaced the next week by another batch of teams. The international teams will compete against the Korean representatives and the winners will take home a so far undisclosed amount of money. In addition, all expenses for the teams stay in Korea will be payed for them, just as we are accustomed to with The International.

While DK were among the teams which were a part of the official announcement, DK's manager Farseer has since stated on his Weibo account that the team will not be taking part. It is unknown at this time who their replacement will be or what the reason for them dropping out was.

For those not familiar with OnGameNet, they are a well known e-Sports organization and the primary counterpoint to GOM in Korea. In the past they were best known for running the OGN StarLeague (OSL) and the ProLeague for StarCraft, and currently are also well established with League of Legends programming.

While many details regarding the tournament remain unknown, it is likely that the existing partnerships with Toby 'TobiWan' Dawson and BeyondTheSummit will carry over into this league. The Korean brodcasters have already been announced as OGN's female caster Jung So-rim, legendary BroodWars caster Lee Seung-won and Warcraft 3 colour commentator Oh Sung-kyun.
