After an epic month of great matches, starting from the qualifiers right down to the grand final, the inaugural edition of It's Gosu's Monthly Madness tournament has finally concluded, with Absolute Legends edging out Counter Logic Gaming 3 games to 2.

The tournament, which also propelled caster Aaron "Ayesee" Chambers into Dota 2 stardom, saw the participation of all the top names in Dota 2, but there could only be one champion to take home the winner takes all prize money of $1000.

In a thrilling best of 5, Absolute Legends would win a game, only for CLG to peg them back time and time again. Despite playing two grand finals back to back, eventually it was the Australians who truimphed and claim the $1000 bounty. This win for the Aussies follows their 3rd placing for The Premier League, cementing their status as one of the top Dota 2 teams at the moment.

A second edition of IG Monthly Madness is in the works, with a larger prizepool and a slight change of format. After the grand final, ESFI World managed to get a few words from Chambers:

"To say our inaugural season of Monthly Madness exceeded even our most wild optimism would be the understatement of the year. It's hard to believe it was only 5-6 weeks ago that I was going live with my first Dota 2 cast... an open qualifier with about 200 people watching. I barely knew Draskyl, and It's Gosu had never run a single Dota 2 event. We've only done about 16 more casts since then, but we've had the chance to work with the best teams on the planet right out of the gate, and come to know just how amazing a community we already have in Dota 2. It's been a baptism by fire, all with thousands of live viewers and more than TWO MILLION total views on the stream... all across 40 days or so. It's been a hell of a ride.

Now that it's all history, we get to look forward to doing it all over again! Draskyl and I will be back for our second season of Monthly Madness in April, as will the majority of the teams who participated in our first season. I can't give out all of the details quite yet, but I can tell you the following: the prize pool WILL be increasing, it'll still be an all Bo3 invitational tournament with open qualifiers, and we're going to be bringing you even more featured casts than the first time around. More details will be released next week!

So, for now, toss all your love and well wishes to Absolute Legends and CLG for one of the most amazing Bo5's Dota2 has seen so far, and keep tuned to It's Gosu as we gear up for next season. Until then, go watch a stream, or start a stream of your own! Let's keep our community growing!"

Until then, Dota fans can look forward to more and more tournaments, including the on-going Starladder series as well as the much anticipated Asian Dota Championships to get their fix of high skilled Dota action.
