Firebat reaches StarLadder’s grand finals

James “Firebat” Kostesich 3-0’d Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh last night and advanced to the final match of StarLadder’s kick-off season as he cements the #1 spot in the NA GosuRankings.

After having somewhat slow May and June runs which tumbled Firebat’s overall record a bit, the reigning world champion is back on track. Archon’s finest will compete in StarLadder’s grand final tonight, fighting for the $4,000 first place prize and the fifth gold medal of his career.

In the three playoff games he played, Firebat dropped only two maps, one to Cong “StrifeCro” Shu and another to Russian underdog Alexey “Lostov” Fursov. The latter was already on a killing spree against Archon members and Firebat was the only one able to put a stop to his crusade.

Firebat will play the grand finals against either Kolento or Lostov who face each other at 21:00 CEST tonight in their first ever competitive duel. The Ukrainian looks in as good a shape as ever but Lostov has already upset notable names including Jon “Orange” Westberg, Sebatian “Xixo” Bentert, Jason “Amaz” Chan and StrifeCro.

You can find full coverage of StarLadder here. Don’t forget to tune in at 21:00 CEST.
