The National Collegiate e-Sports Association (NCeSPA) will host the first National Collegiate Counter-Strike League for Fall 2014. The top collegiate teams in North America will compete for a prize pool of $1,000.
Starting in the fall, Canadian and American collegiate teams will vie for supremacy in the National Collegiate Counter-Strike League. After a short preason qualifier, 32 teams, divided into 4 regions, will head to a 12 week season. A playoff bracket for the title will follow soon after, as well as the lion's share of the $1,000 prize pool.
Many schools that have gaming clubs and organizations have already registered teams, and will submit their finalized starting rosters by Sunday, August 10th, 2014. According to their rules, NCeSPA does not allow professional players to compete, so this is a great opportunity to watch untapped talent perform in a competitive environment.
With organizations like NCeSPA as well as the Collegiate Starleague already pulling experience from hosting games like League of Legends and Starcraft 2, adding Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to the game pool is an exciting opportunity for schools to build communities, develop new rivalries, and add an interesting narrative to the already colorful Counter-Strike scene.
