The prestigious LAN event Dreamhack has released the tournament sponsor for this Summer's Dota 2 tournament, the format and the prize pool distribution. Also, this time around there will be four online qualifiers.
Asus Rog and Plantronics are the new sponsors for the Dreamhack Summer's Dota 2 tournament. The prize pool as been increased by 100 000 SEK, which is about 11,000€.
In light of this announcment, Dreamhack has also released information regarding the invites. The Alliance will be automatically invited as the title defendant, whereas Team Dignitas will be invited having placed 2nd in the Dreamhack Dota 2 Invitational, which Alliance won. On the 18th May, the Techlabs Cup in Minsk will determine a third team.
Apart from that, seven other teams will be invited. In addition, four online qualifiers will be played out with two slots being left open for the BYOC at the event.
As usual, the tournament will begin with four groups of four teams, round-robin style (bo1). The best two teams advance and eight teams will face off in a single elimination playoff round, matches being best-of-three.
The event will take place from the 15th June until the 18th.
