Grand Final: 5th October

WCG Player village
The second day has come to an end and most have now arrived though we're still missing the Germans and the Russians. Several interviews and photos have been made and we're all getting ready for the show down tomorrow. Lots of different personalities and it's a dream uniting all these top players from all over the globe.

Bets, poker and king of the hill

1on1 poker
Some online enemies met today in real life for the first time - shook hands - and exchanged the standard conversation about how they never really wanted to fight and that they were all joking. So some discussing and laughing at each other, United States Rekrul[pG] challenged the current king and added a $100 bet that he would win it all. We're definitely recording that match and we even got a burger king crown to give the winner!

The player village is so full of players now that you can't really move around freely, the elevators are running on overheat. There was supposed to be a welcome party now though we couldn't join up because we're configuring the Starcraft computers. According to some Romanian guys we didn't miss anything at the players' party - "it sucked ".

The WCG organization so far

The opening ceremony will begin tomorrow morning and by then all players would have arrived meaning there will be a lot more victims to track down for interviews and pictures.

One can really tell that there's a lot of sponsor support behind the whole project and everything is amazing, there are banners all over the city, buses painted with the logo and slogan, expensive equipment and huge buildings all promoting the WCG 2004 event.

However, when it comes to the practical organization it seems more messy. So far a lot of delays and the fact that there are no practice room here is irritating a lot of players. This was informed in advance though most didn't pick it up at all. The information in general is not that good and the standard answer is either "we'll know tomorrow" or "I don't know, why do you ask?". That might be because they're not expecting complicated questions from referees though one would assume they at least would give us details about what our job will be! We still don't know exactly what we will do and it all begins in two days. At the moment we're just interviewing, photographing and roaming around searching for a computer to upload pictures and write our coverage.

All different personalities
Brazil HellGhost[pG] seems so cool, Spain SoL.ZelotITO, Spain ToT)Manza( and
Spain -=ALFA=- were very friendly, Netherlands L.Nazgul[pG] is such a really nice guy, Bulgaria 3wD.ENJoY and Bulgaria 3wD.Beast are so funny, France ElkY proved to be the poker king (two - nil vs Nazgul in a game about dinner),

Canada rS.Testie certainly lives up to his online personality, Canada VeG[pG] was almost as energetic as United States rS.Day[9] ("ooooh my God are you serious?! I mean for real!? Man are you kidding?!"), United States XG3 and United States Redcloak are lazy and love quoting emails, Canada choblar admitted he can't read Chinese, Netherlands ErkenBrand can't let go of the master plan, United States sLog4[pG] is the so far craziest Korean around while Romania ShamanofDeath seems calm and hopes to win it all and Argentina Entropy did not show up yet!

Beware of the referees
Lots of different personalities and it's great seeing so many different sides of Starcraft - lots of different minds ingame as well, will be great to see them all face each other. Also check the main overview coverage, where we added all matches with times in CET which we will be updating live.

To our great disappointment we realized the ports on the tournament computers were after all not firewire as the picture had said, but a smaller version of it. If we can not find others with a proper one we're not sure whether we can upload our movies. If not, we will add them all by text and pictures on the site later on. Oh, why didn't we bring our laptops!?.

Check us again tomorrow for pictures from the opening ceremony and continued reports on the latest of WCG 2004.
