AEDL jumpstarts with a showmatch

With the recent announcement of a new league called AEDL being formed, an official date for both the league and an opening showmatch has been confirmed.

AEDL is to start off with an exciting showmatch between Asian powerhouse, AEON.cgc, and European titans, DDT, which will be happening on Sunday, 28th of February, 16:00 CET. The game will be a BO3 match, and our very own shoutcaster Madmortigan and Gamestah's TobiWanKenobi will be shoutcasting the games, so make sure you tune in.

The league is planned to be officially opened on the 1st of March - the league has its own irc channel #AEDL on quakenet, and also has a Garena league room in Oceania -> AEDL League room.

GosuGamers has exclusive statements about the showmatch from DDT's Ducky, AEON.sg's Tofu and the head admin Tekniqz.

Ducky: We expect intense games against Aeon and my good friend Tofu. It's always fun to face people from the other side the globe, because they pick and ban differently and their play style is really effective. Also, I'm a huge fan of the upcoming AEDL, this is a dream coming true to have the opportunity to play against the best of the best. Every game will be high level and for me prizes doesn't matter, it's the games. I'm really looking forward to play with some of the guys i meet in china, and to meet, talk and play with a lot of those i still haven't encountered yet.

Tofu: I'm looking forward to go up against one of the current top European teams, mainly DDT. However, this match can be said to be uneven due to them being handicapped as they are playing on our hostbot. Winning this for my team won't prove much of anything. As for losing, sorry we have no intention of losing. We will be giving it our best for this game and we won't take for any other score other than 2-0.

I think AEDL is a good way to gather the pro-community of Asia and Europe together, and rather than playing public games or clan wars, we can now see high-level games of Asia and Europe combined be it against or with each other. This is definitely a step up for the dota community, as there is more incentive now not to quit dota (for HoN espescially).

Tekniqz: This showmatch is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Admin Team, there are only 3 of us currently Suppy, onevoice, and myself. With such a small admin team it has been a incredibly hard task of organizing this league however all of us are grateful for each others hard work. This game promises to be one of the biggest this year and will be in the best of 3 format, Good luck to both teams.
