The Terran Emperor

[s]starcraft[/s]South Korea

Lim “SlayerS_`BoxeR`” Yo-Hwan, now 24 is known to be one of, or the best, Terran Players to ever play StarCraft: Brood War. If anyone can claim a spot in the Starcraft History and its hall of fame, he has a place assured.

BoxeR was born on the 4th of September, 1980 in Korea. His childhood dream was to become a pro football player. But it was only until when he was 19 when he decided to take up playing StarCraft. His first major achievement was in the end of 1999 when he played in the 1st SBS (Seoul Broadcasting Station) StarCraft Tournament. He won that and his fame spread like wild. After the victory, later in 2000, he was invited to the Police Boat Game Conference, after playing through some games; he won that and was “unofficially” awarded the title of “Pro-Gamer”.

His victory was heard of, and he was soon approached by the Pro Team Ideal Space, also known as IS. He decided to join under the nickname “LimTerran” or “Limyh”. After winning numerous tournaments, finally the World Cyber Games 2001 approached BoxeR; this was going to be his first challenge as a popular pro-gamer. It had the likes of Canada Giyom “Grrrr…” Patry, France Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and South Korea Jo “V-Gundam” Jung-Hyun just to name a few. After Lim’s victory against ElkY, at the World Cyber Games party, he played
Norway [GG99]Slayer and won against him.

Searching for a new name, Lim looked in an online dictionary for something ferocious, and he stumbled upon the word “SlayerS”. He add it to the name BoxerR, and old clan he belonged to. So that is how he came up with the name "SlayerS_`BoxeR", according to what has been said.

After that, in the first of his South Korea OnGameNet Starleagues, Coca-Cola to be exact, he had to play versus South Korea [NC]...YellOw in the finals. BoxeR prevailed 3-2 and ever since then they have become the most popular rivals in StarCraft History.

Also, BoxeR competed in another StarLeague, SKY 2001. He played against the Protoss Player South Korea GARIMTO. In 5 Epic battles, BoxeR unfortunately lost 3-2. But what was actually amazing is that BoxeR won on the Ice Map, Silent Vortex, which was known for its horrible imbalance of TvP because of the Ice Vortex where you cannot build turrets on the ice and push out of your base. This victory on Vortex by BoxeR amazed lots of people, and he became more praised.

The Year 2002 was a good start for BoxeR, he won against his old rival
South Korea YellOw for his first KPGA title. Straight after that, the 2002 WCG was fast approaching for BoxeR which he had an auto seed for. It included
United States Tom "FroZ!" Whittier, South Korea Park "Junwi" Kyung-Rak, Germany Fredrik "[pG]FiSheYe" Keitel and last but not least, BoxeR's biggest rival
South Korea Hong "[NC]...YellOw" Jin-Ho.

BoxeR was placed in Group D, also known as the Group Of Death. It had the likes of Bulgaria DIDI, Russia Andriode and even United States FroZ! (pictured) himself was in the group. BoxeR just barely made it out of the group stage, finishing off 3-2 and coming 2nd in his group, with FroZ coming 1st. The memorable match for BoxeR was himself vs. DIDI, it was an hour long game on Legacy Of Char, and BoxeR with his magic proved victorious. Another surprise is that BoxeR lost to FroZ, twice, once in the group match and again in the tie-breakers, both matches were on the air map Hall of Valhalla. When BoxeR got to the double-brackets, he had to play South Korea YellOw to get to the quarters. His odds were near impossible since the map was going to be Legacy of Char. Nevertheless, BoxeR pulled off magic that made him win, leaving YellOw in sorrow because he was bumped to the loser brackets. BoxeR went to soar past France ElkY and Poland Blackman, then he met YellOw AGAIN! It was the finals, BO3 and BoxeR had the 1-0 advantage coming from the winners bracket. He annihilated Yellow on Hall Of Valhalla and was crowned WCG 2002 Champion for Brood War.

SKY2002 was straight after WCG, BoxeR again makes it to the finals, now playing against South Korea Park.yellow_ktf.jpg "[Oops]Reach" Jung-Suk. BoxeR lost 3-1, and his father blamed IS for not giving BoxeR a decent Protoss player. After their dispute, IS cut off BoxeR's contract, leaving him with no team until he was approached by Tong-Yang, which back then, as we all know, made the team Orion. BoxeR placed 2nd in the KPGA tour invite championship to... you guessed it, YellOw 3-1, but 2 of the games were "Pure Cheese", one game on Sauron where BoxeR used all of his SCVs to annihilate YellOw. In the game on Blade Storm, he lifted his CC to the back of his base, but it proved unsuccessful. Both of these moves were known as Pimpest Plays by many.

Year 2003 was not a big one for BoxeR, his major achievement was only getting 3rd in the Olympus Starleague, winning against Junwi. As many of you may know, BoxeR didn't get an auto-seed for WCG 2003, so he didn't compete in it. The game of the year for BoxeR was him vs. JoyO on Paradoxxx. It was a 30 minute game, it was thrilling, it was, how can I say more?

This year, 2004 is a new step for BoxeR, coming 2nd in the KT-KTF Bigi Premier League, losing to [ReD]NaDa, changing his pro team to SK Telecom T1, winning the G-Voice Challenge League winning against Qoo)Max and now, in the finals of the EVER Starleague, playing against his longtime apprentice, iloveoov.

Here I will leave you now with lots of facts about BoxeR, his achievements and some links you might want to go to. It goes without saying that he and Nada are by far the Pro-gamers that have made the most money playing Starcraft.
