With less than five days remaining until the worldwide launch of Diablo III, Amazon.com reports that Blizzard's hack-and-slash RPG is the most preordered game in the history of the website.
There are no exact numbers given so we still don't know how far the game is from the predicted
5 million copies sold in the first year. At this point, however, it seems that everything is going right from Blizzard, although one has to have in mind that
according to recent data 1.2M copies have been sold via World of WarCraft annual pass subscriptions, which gives to the buyer a free copy of Diablo III.
The latter source also states that over 8000 retailers will be celebrating May 15th with midnight openings, aiming to bring the phrase "a hell of a night" as close to its literal meaning as possible.
