[UPDATE] Four RNG players and whole staff members test positive for COVID at TI11

Royal Never Give Up forfeited their second game against PSG.LGD due to a medical issue.

Right after they forfeited the game, Royal Never Give Up announced on their Weibo page that their mid lane player, Lu "Somnus" Yao, wasn’t feeling well. According to RNG, Somnus tested positive for COVID only after a second test and was immediately hospitalized.

“The player is currently being treated at the hospital due to his physical condition, and hopes to recover as soon as possible,” translates RNG’s Weibo post.

A couple of hours later, RNG were able to continue their group play, but it is unclear if Somnus continues to stay from the hospital or if he was transferred to a quarantine room at the players’ hotel in Singapore.

[update]: Ahead of their final match of the day, against Evil Geniuses RNG made an update on their Weibo page stating that the whole team, except for Yap "xNova" Jian Wei has in the meantime, tested positive for COVID.

Apart from the four players who now have to quarantine, RNG’s coach Su "Flyby" Lei, team leader Liu Junyu and the team’s General Manager, Lu Hao have also tested positive.

Neither Valve nor PGL have made any official statements regarding the situation.

At the end of the second day of group stage matches, PSG.LGD were penalized by Valve for all their matches on day 3 for failing to report a COVID case in time.

Before the  PSG.LGDvsRoyal Never Give Up series, RNG were leading Group A with a 9-1 game score. Following the forfeit in game two, they dropped to second place in the group. RNG have two more series scheduled for Day 3, against Hokori and Evil Geniuses.

A top-four placement in the group will grant RNG an upper bracket seed for the playoffs stage. The teams placed 5th to 8th in the groups will start the playoffs in the lower bracket, while the bottom two teams from each group will be eliminated. The group stage matches will come to an end, tomorrow, October 18.
