Tulex & Warlog: 'Our mother watches our games'

Your old team SGC disbanded in September. Was it
clear at that point already that you are going to join mTw?

Tulex: Not really, I had the idea in mind since synd was 'free' then, but I started getting things going only after we came to conclusion that we won’t continue as SGC.

Warlog: For me - not at all. It actually came as a big surprise when my brother asked me if I want to play with them. I would probably stop playing if this offer didn't come.

syndereN has been criticised for his solo-mid, yet you still kept it. What were the reasons for this?

Warlog: Was he? I like his mid.

Loda said he would not join a team in which syndereN plays mid.

Warlog: Well, that's like, his opinion, man.

Tulex: He plays his mid in a different, less-carryish way than other players, so maybe that’s why people think that. But we pretty much all play our best roles and I think we are comfortable about each other playing his role as well.

Tulex: It’s my dream to play full-time.

The next question is something a lot of people would be interested in. Can you give us more information on why you couldn’t attend DreamHack?

Warlog: Sorry, I guess we will have to disappoint you.

Let's go back to your practise and play. Seeing as your team has been playing for quite a while now, how would you rate your progress?

Warlog: I think we are progressing quite well, but we will only see when we play against the top teams in official matches.

Tulex: I think it has been pretty good considering everything, we kinda had a pause right now, but if we get back to having regular training it’s gonna be good.

How confident do you feel going up against the high tier teams in the upcoming tournaments, such as D2L and The Defense?

Warlog: 5 enemies, 5 bounties!

Tulex: Nothing to add after this.

Warlog: I like synd's mid.

Let's continue with another topic. Having two brothers in a high-tier competitive team is something unusual. Does it influence your practise/play in any way, for example when voicing criticism?

Warlog: I don't think so; we are always ready to flame. It's a plus.

Tulex: We sometimes speak in Slovak just to make other members mad. But it’s cool, not really a super-huge advantage but it feels good. Absolutely zero negatives.

Do you live together, play in one room together?

Warlog: I'm in Prague most of the time, so no. We just live together during the holidays, but not in one room.

Tulex: I study in Brno, Czech Republic, so it’s very rare we meet at home at the same time and our internet there can’t handle two people playing Dota 2 at the same time, so it kinda sucks anyway (smiles).

What do you study?

Warlog: Medicine.

Tulex: Sociology/Journalistics, planning to add Psychology next year.

Warlog: Not planning to add anything.

Do you do anything else apart from studying and playing Dota, e.g. sports?

Tulex: I played Ultimate Frisbee, had a pause now though for various reason, gonna be back at it during spring I hope, also I enjoy playing on piano and an occasional drinking session. Apart from that, nothing special.

Warlog: I play the piano and a bit of volleyball. There is also the occasional beer or three.

Very musical family! Being a pro gamer is an uncommon job. How do you explain what you are doing?

Tulex: I just explain that I play computer game on a high level, not really presenting it as a job.

Warlog: I don't feel it's my job. The studies come first. But you can just compare it to something like playing chess, since people don't like to call it sport.

What does your family think about it? Do they understand the game?

Tulex: I think they are fine with it, although they want us to focus on study first, which I usually sadly don’t do. Our mother tries to keep track of our results.

Warlog: She is even watching streams sometimes - she especially likes v1lat. And dad is ok with it as long as it doesn't hinder my studies.

How long do you intend on playing Dota 2 competitively and could you imagine doing it full-time?

Tulex: It’s my dream to do it full-time, but it’s too risky to throw the studies completely at the moment, I will play it until it will be on verge of ruining my life pretty much (smiles).

Warlog: Hm... We will have to see how it goes, but I'd like play until at least TI3, but I am really not sure. But I don't see me doing this full-time.

Tulex: Our mother tries to keep track of our results.

Before The International, syndereN used to stream mTw’s scrims including voice chat. Can your fans expect this again?

Tulex: Maybe from time to time, we already did it, and now both me and Dutch stream as well so you could usually get more points of view for the game. We probably won't do it before big tournaments etc. though.

Warlog: Just don't watch Dutch's stream (Hi Hugo).

To finish this off, here is a question from your team captain syndereN: 'Why is your brother better than you at everything?'

Warlog: (Laughs) He is older, I still have time to catch up.

Tulex: He has longer fingers. Also, **** you synd

What a nice ending. Any last shout-outs?

Warlog: Shout-out to synd's mom, mTw of course and Adam.

Tulex: Shout-out to all our fans and mTw.
