Purple and Firebat break the European hegemony on top of the GosuRankings

The North Americans' recent successes put them both in the top 5 of the world, previously occupied by European players exclusively.

After a somewhat disappointing run through HWC 2015, the North American champion is back on the winners’ throne. Purple swept the opposition at DreamHack Winter 2015, going 12-1 in series and claiming the second LAN title of his career.

Purple’s run through DHW also disrupted the European hegemony on the top of the GosuRankings. Purple climbed back to the #5 spot, pushing out players like Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh who previously exerted total dominance over the rankings together ???? Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk, Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall and Stanislav Cifka.

James “Firebat” Kostesich also returned to the top of the rankings. The former world champion had a quiet October but sprung back this month with a 60% win-rate. Just today, Firebat also topped Group A of the Celestial Invitational, prevailing over Lifecoach, Chaoshen and Blue, which put him at #4.

Note: The swiss round matches of DreamHack Winter are yet to be logged. We expect further shifts in the rankings after that’s completed.
