Hearthstone goes to DreamHack Bucharest, $10,000 in prizes

DreamHack will be hosting an open, 128-man tournament in Romania's capital April 26-27. $10,000 is on the line, with $4,000 going to the winner.

Hearthstone's appearance at the European circuit has been speculated for some time now and after established tournament brands like TakeTV and IEM welcomed Blizzard's card game, DreamHack are officially following suit. DreamHack Bucharest, the first stop of the DH circuit for 2014, will welcome 128 players and have them battle for $10,000 total prize pool over the weekend of April 26-27th.

With these details in mind, DH Bucharest shapes up to be one of the biggest Hearthstone tournaments to date. Only a few events have managed to contest the five-digit prize pool so far, but DreamHack will also feature a truly massive bracket, creating a milestone in the development of the Hearthstone scene.

Similar to weekly tournaments like GosuCup, Managrind or Zotac, the registered players will have to go through a brutal single elimination bracket, meaning they'll be one Bo3 loss away from elimination. Reaching top 8 is the minimum for everyone who wants to come home with money.

DreamHack Bucharest Hearthstone prize pool breakdown

1st place – $4,000
2nd place – $2,000
3rd & 4th place – $1,000 each
5th to 8th place – $500 each

Little details is still known for the event but Hearthstone fans can expect a healthy mix of pro players and lesser known players. The event will also be streamed and talks with potential casters are currently under way. Sign ups are also open already.
