Starladder expands to Korea

StarLadder have set their sights on becoming a mini-International, this time announcing a new groupstage qualifier in Korea.

StarLadder are again expanding their horizons, this time working together with Nexon Interactive to organise a qualifying groupstage within Korea. Eight Korean teams will be fighting for the top spot in the group, which will entitle them to a trip to Kiev, Ukraine, for the LAN finals. With the addition of a Korean team, a team from the American division and two more teams from the Chinese division also qualifying for the LAN finals, this sets up an intriguing LAN final between Europe and the rest of the world.

The eight Korean teams will play in a Round Robin, best of one format, with the eventual winner of the group attending the LAN finals. The qualifiers will start on 4 March, 2014, and will last until 29 March. Interestingly, Team Zephyr has not been included in the Qualifying League despite their success in the Nexon Sponsorship League and other tournaments. According to LD on Reddit, Nexon was in charge of handling the invitations and decided not to include Zephyr in the qualification league.

Casting will be done in English by BeyondTheSummit and in Russian by StarLadder.tv, on their respective StarLadder Twitch streams.

List of Korean teams participating:
South Korea BirdGang
South Korea 5inQ
South Korea MVP Phoenix
South Korea MVP Hot6
