In an email sent to teams on Tuesday afternoon, ESL stated that "after the conclusion of the voting and further elaboration", it was decided that coaches "will be able to join the game server and talk to the players throughout the matches".
ESL had reached out to the teams competing in ESL One: Road to Rio on Monday to ask if coaches should be allowed to communicate with their players without restrictions or if they shouldn't even be allowed in the game server. The first option required the unanimous approval of all participating teams, sparking negative reactions from professional players and coaches on Twitter.
