Eliminations Abound in Round 1 of HSS Opening Cup

If you've been following my-liga.com's HoN Super Series, you know that there were a huge number of sign-ups for their Opening Cup event. Competitors from around the world nearly filled a 256-team bracket, and the Round 1 matches were played throughout the past week. With the field significantly narrowed down, this tournament is heating up. Round 2 starts this Friday!

There are still a few teams who have yet to deliver match results (namely, YOUMADBRAH? and Dotally Rad against their respective opponents), but for the most part, the Round 2 matches are set and ready to begin in a couple days.

Due to the seeding and sheer size of the tournament, most of the matches in Round 1 were landslides, with the higher seeds moving on as expected. (Check out the bracket to see how your favorite teams did.) The biggest surprise, however, was DuskBin Esports falling out of the tournament in their first-round match against Glittering Prizes.

Featured Match, Round 1 (Ro256)
Glittering Prizes absolutely dominated the tri-lane vs. tri-lane with an aggressive Predator-Andromeda-Torturer setup. DuskBin's Wretched Hag started off strong, going 8/0/6 and finishing Level 3 Puzzlebox. Both teams looked dead even, but it came down to the Swedes' tri-lane victory. Predator eventually got out of control, while Flint Beastwood could never catch up in farm.

Unfortunately, the members of DuskBin had to play with 300ms pings on a US East server, but both teams showed great skill, nonetheless.

Round 2 (Ro128): March 11th - March 17th
Round 2 should be a bit more competitive than the previous round, but with 128 teams still left in the bracket, there are still large skill gaps between many of the teams. Could one of the top teams possibly lose in an upset? Look for more coverage next week!
