DreamHack Masters: Malmö 2016 - NiP make Sweden proud

After a very convincing 2:0 victory over finalists of the most recent major, Natus Vincere, the Ninjas in Pyjamas are proclaimed Champions of DreamHack Masters: Malmö 2016.

NiP start on the Terrorist side.
Na'Vi set themselves on top in the pistol round and were unstoppable until the first gun round, after which NiP started to grind back up the scoreboard. With Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko holding B like a brick wall, NiP often were unable to enter the site and despite some individual plays, they could not stop the CIS team in taking it to 9 rounds for the first half.

With Na'Vi winning the second pistol round as well, it did not look that great for NiP to make a comeback, but unexpectedly they took the follow-up round and started a strong momentum that brought them towards double digits, and after living through some back and forth rounds, NiP were sitting on 14-12. In a 2v2 retake on A the Swedes came through, but sitting on map point they could not follow up, as Na'Vi got control of B and did not let go of it. Crawling back, they brought it to a 15-14 score line, but despite all these efforts to take the map out of NiP's hands, Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg went crazy with the UMP in mid to give the edge to the Ninjas, which they absolutely capitalized on to win 16-14.

NiP start on the Terrorist side.
Quite similarly to Dust2, one team was able to get the pistol round and follow up until the first gun round, but this time it was not Na'Vi. Even when the CIS team was winning rounds, the Ninjas made sure to not let them develop a momentum as the Ninjas got up to a 7-3 lead. At this point, Na'Vi were in need of changing things up and making an impact, because it seemed as if the Swedes were running away with the match at that point. And whatever it was that they swapped up, suddenly they ran away with the half as they got the last five rounds consecutively.

Transferring their momentum to the second half, they crawled up towards 13 points already. You should, however, never count the Swedes out as they suddenly stepped up massively to deliver a five rounds streak. In a crazy clutch, GuardiaN unfortunately intercepted GeT_RiGhT to get onto 14 points, but as friberg answered in the subsequent round with a triple kill, Natus Vincere had to make the decision whether to force buy or play for overtime. Na'Vi have always been some men that were willing to take a risk, but when it did not pay out at all, the CIS squad had to fight for overtime and eventually lost out 16-14.
